It is time again to start obsessing about tickets to Germany. We will be flying this summer, right after school is out, from the end of May until the middle of July, as it looks now. We are really looking forward to it. With German school vacations also starting while we are there, and my mother, who works at a church, being able to take her vacation, plans are going into high gear. Who will we visit, when and where all will we go. See, we did not go last year. So, it is highly anticipated!!!
And for all who know me just a warning – I will obsessing about this until we actually have tickets.
Every year the the priced question is – when is the best time to buy? Currently, there are no good summer deals out yet, but will there ever be? There is a limited number of flights going over, and with Delta on the frits and more and more people flying itsurely is the priced question.
When I first started flying about 14 years ago – have I really been here that long already? – I would have a whole middle bench to myself to stretch out and sleep during the flights back and forth. Hm, that does not happen anymore. Now, we have stand-by fliers, because the flights are always so overbooked. My mother did that just after we moved back in 2003, and we were able to go back to the gate with her, which is now unheard off, but it did not work out. Bummer, she would pretty much had a free flight.
But, back to my thing here. I am running around everywhere on the Internet, searching for the best ticket prices. Destination Dusseldorf (just 20 minutes from my hometown), Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt are all in the running, but no luck so far.
economytravel.com, bt-store.com, cheopoair.com, priceline.com, etn.nl (a powerhouse of travel information), kayak.com, discountflights.com, lowestfare.com, ebookers.com just to name a few, I am looking at almost daily to see if anything is happening, because once it does, you better be there. It is like that with many things, isn’t it?
SO I BETTER BE THERE!!!!
No, we don’t have enough miles to get a free flight. We got tickets in the past with whoever would be best price-wise and connection-wise, but that also meant to not get the miles with the “preferred” company, which was so far Delta. Who knows what happens now …. but we have been wondering about that for a long time now.
If anybody has any suggestions as to go about our airline ticket hunt this year, it would be EXTREMELY appreciated!!! I would even go as far as to say that I would be eternally indebted to you. Yeah, that’s a little far, but you know what I mean
