The new year has started. It is dreary and rainy, and a perfect time to take down the Christmas decorations. I want my space back! It was so wonderful to have them up for a month, but then, they just get too much. The tree is not soaking any more water, so that the needles will start dropping soon. The paper whites are done blooming and stinking. Gosh, I found out how stinky they are. I think I will leave those outside for next year. Amaryllis don’t smell like the stinkiest feet ever!!! After taking down the Christmas stuff, we keep going with the clean sweep through the house. There will be a lot taken to the dump and sold in Yard Sales and on Craigslist!
That brings me to my New Years resolutions. One is to keep decluttering!!! We are getting there slowly but surely. Just keep on keeping on, right?
My other New Years resolution is to be better to myself, whatever that means. I hope that will transfer in me being a better mom, wife and friend. Wait, again, everything for everybody else. I hope it means that I will be just better to myself.
The new year is also the second half of the school year. I hope it will go well for Anna and Emily! For them, I have to be better to myself to be more patient with them. It is hard to be patient, if you are always living on the edge.
I am already feeling better by going to the gym more, now if I could just go to bed earlier. I am a night owl, but that also means I have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. Anna and Emily take total advantage of that and sleep as long as they can. So, I stumble into their bedrooms, half asleep myself and wake them up – as nice as I can while waking up myself. Is that a third New Years resolution? Three is the charm, sometimes!
I am looking forward to 2009. Both our jobs seem quite stable. I am traveling for the first time since Anna’s birth alone. They will be well taken care of by Michael and their grandma. I am a bit apprehensive about the trip in that respect, but also very excited. It is for my mom’s 60th birthday, and I am really looking forward to celebrating the big day with her and my brothers. Otherwise, it is swim season now and then soccer season and then summer. There are the CRCT’s to survive for both of our girls. The summer program deserves a whole new post, so more about that later. My mom mentioned she would like to come in the fall. And you know what happens after that … Halloween, etc. … bamm, it’s 2010. So, let’s just enjoy the beginning of the new year like enjoying the sun peaking through the clouds between the rain. I wonder if I can see a rainbow …

Immer heißt es : Do it yourself!
