The last few days have been a bit much in this house.

My mother just found out that she has to have knee surgery, which is actually a good thing. Her knee has had problems for the last years. Now, it will be taken care off while she is still young!

Then, our cat, Moritz, had surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago to remove a growth from his back. It was sent away to find out what we are dealing with. The vet called yesterday telling us it came back as fibrosarcoma. It is a malignant tumor and will come back, probably somewhere between 6 to 8 months. Moritz is 13 years old and is just sweet as can be. He follows us, wants to be with us and would cuddle 24 hours a day if he could. When we adopt these animals, we make them part of our family, and we know that they will leave us, but it certainly does not make it any easier to say good-bye.

We adopted Moritz and his sister Zora after Michael and I had been married for 2 years. They were the cutest, fuzziest kittens I had ever seen. Zora was more sneaky, and Moritz could not hide a thing. They captured our hearts right away.

Zora suddenly left us about 2 years ago after being sick for about 1 week and now we will probably loose Moritz within the year. He is an absolutely awesome cat – gentle, sweet, cuddly and extremely loving. Gosh, this sounds like a eulogy.  Well, I will write it when it comes to it. Right now, I will enjoy him!!!

The third thing that happened yesterday was that we got a call from the school counselor and Anna’s teacher that she had not passed the reading CRCT. Her teacher called for a meeting this morning and told us that she had failed all tests. Now, in class, she can do everything. She knows it, but cannot show it on the test. So, we went back to the evalutations from last year to look at it closer, what we have to work on. We are already working on so much at home and in school! We got to attention issues. I know, I am constantly telling her to focus, to pay attention and to stay with me while I am talking. That is no different in school. So, her teacher suggested trying medication, because her attention issue is the only thing that makes sense as debilitating her all across the board like that. So, we have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow to find out what comes next, which medication to try out first. Then, at the end of June, Anna will have to take the CRCT again.

I  feel like I really need some time off! I will get it next week, when we are leaving for Germany…
